Water Of Life

In the story of Creation we read that “God formed man on the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7). How could God make a human being out of dust? In one way the answer is simple: He had to add water. Isaiah wrote, “We are the clay, and thou our potter” (Isaiah 64:8) Today we sing, “thou art the potter; I am the clay.” In order to form dust into anything, you have to add water. And that is what god did to make you.

You are 70 percent water! Your blood is 80 percent water and your muscles 75 percent water. Even your bones are 50 percent water. You have 15 to 40 billion brain cells, each about 80 percent water. No matter how you calculate it, you are a walking and talking container of water.

To keep you going, you must have the water replace constantly. You need about two and a half quarts a day. This comes not only from the liquids you drink, but also from the food you eat. For example, an ear of corn is 70 percent water, a potato is 80 percent water, and a tomato is 95 percent water.

Water dissolves the nutrients from your food, carries them to all parts of your body, helps in the chemical reactions that turn food into energy, and transports body’s leftover waste products. You can live without food for about a month, but you can survive for only about a week without water.

If you took a bucket and put 30 parts dist in the bottom and then filled the bucket with 70 parts water and stirred it up, you wouldn’t exactly have something that you could form into a figure, would you? All you would have is muddy water. You wouldn’t even have clay. So how did god make a person who is mostly water? No wonder David was moved to exclaim, “ I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14).

Won’t it be wonderful to drink from the river of life that flows from the throne of god? That water comes from Jesus, who quenches not only your physical thirst but your spiritual thirst as well.

A Word from Our Creator:

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystals, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

Revelation 22:1.
